Participate in providing electronic books to Darfuri refugee students! Help us bring at least 10 Kindles on our upcoming i-ACT Expedition #10.
We take reading, the opportunity to read and to have access to books and other enriching and entertaining written-word material for granted. To the children of Darfur, reading is something they deeply want — and need.
The Darfuri refugee camps on the Chad-Darfur border are remote and offer all kinds of logistical nightmares. Transporting aid and material to these camps involves great cost and risk.
Refugee children have been asking us for books ever since we started visiting the camps. More than anything else, they see education and reading as the key to their future. E-readers allow us to to bring literally thousands of books in one small and reliable electronic instrument.
You can be a part of this exciting new project!
We will be bringing Kindles, which start at $139. With protective sleeves and other incidental expenses, our goal is to fundraise $200 for each e-reader package and to bring at least 10, for a total goal of $2,000. We only have a few days to reach this goal.
