Jack Kornfield, PhD
Jack Kornfield, PhD, trained as a Buddhist monk in Thailand, Burma, and India and has taught worldwide since 1974. He is one of the key teachers to introduce Buddhist mindfulness practices to the West. Dr. Trudy Goodman is the founding teacher of InsightLA and cofounder of the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy. She has taught at universities and retreat centers worldwide for 25 years. iACT Founder Gabriel Stauring became involved in the situation in Darfur, Sudan, out of a sense of personal responsibility, and has made over 30 trips to refugee camps on the Chad-Darfur border, Cameroon, Tanzania, and the Central African Republic. He believes that the power of community and compassion, combined with personal empowerment, can bring about meaningful change.
We invite you to be a part of the inaugural Global Compassion Circle. This pilot involves four units. Each unit is made up of the following parts:
A brief teaching video
Informative multi-media focused on the theme as it relates to Darfuri refugees.
A short mindfulness activity for Global Compassion Circle participants.
A conversation with other participants within the Circle about the theme and activity.
